oh the snow...
I understand that it is winter and we do live in michigan so snow is going to happen, but sometimes (like right about now) I just don't want it! Snow is pretty and it can be fun (I mean I do get to go sledding and snowmobiling tonight) but it makes some things, like driving, so dificult! I had to get driven to my house today because my car couldn't even get me home. So now I have been waiting for a few hours to get picked back up and it's taking so long because my boyfriend has to plow the stupid snow. I guess it's not all a bad thing because it's giving me time to do some homework, but I still don't like it. But, now that I don't have a way to get anywhere thanks to my crappy 2-wheel drive car and my even crappier tires on it, I'll be stuck for most of tomorrow too. Which means no work for me! And that's a good thing because working outside when it's going to be as cold as they say it is sucks. So I'm not really sure if I like it or hate it right now. I think it's a little bit of both. But I definitley will not miss it when it's gone.

What makes a good story
A good story is something that can capture a readers attention and keep it. It can be either real or made up. Either way, a good story needs to use lots of detail. The reader should be able to picture exactly what the author is imagining as they right the story. A begining, a middle, and a end are also really important factors in a good story. The beginning has to be interesting enough to keep the reader wanting to read, by the middle the reader should be hooked and wanting to find out more, and the ending should tie the story all together and leave the reader feeling something about what they just read. There are many different kind of stories (suspense, romantic, adventurous, etc.) but all need to have a purpose. The author should put some sort of thought of how they want the reader to feel about the story before writing it.

What I do for work
As I sit here trying to come up with something to write about before I head off to work, it just made sense to talk about what exactly I do for work. In my previous blog I mentioned that I work on a farm, but there is so many different kinds of farms and so many different things to do that I'm sure not many have much more than an idea of what I do. If you read my previous post you could probably guess that I work at a horse farm. But there's a lot more to it than that.
I car for about 50 horses by myself 5 days out of the week. It doesn't sound like much to some, but it can be pretty exhausting. I work at Windy Hill Equestrian Center which is now owned by Ironwood Performance Horses. It is mainly a showing stables which means the horses I care for at pretty high maintenance.
There's definitely things I enjoy about working there but there is also plenty that I hate about it. It's no different than any other job. Of course the thing I love most about working where I do is being able to spend a majority of my day with horses. Working with horses is definitely a passion of mine and I couldnt imagine wanting to do anything other than that. Now I don't mean that I want to be working on a farm for the rest of my life, this is just temporary until I can finish school. While working with horses is great, there are some things I don't enjoy so much about it. No matter what day it is, how cold it is, how hot it is, if it's a holiday, or if you're sick you don't get a break. Horses need to be cared for everyday, and that means the 5 days out of the week I'm expected to work, I work. Although working on a farm is not as fun as it may sound I would still rather do what I do than work anywhere else right now.

A little bit about me
I'm going to take this opportunity to talk a little bit about myself since I'm sure no one in the class really knows me. This is my first blogging experience and writing really isn't my strong suit so bare with me. Hopefully it gets easier.
I graduated from Harper Creek in 2013, but this is actually my first college class. After being out of school for almost 2 years I wasn't too sure how I would feel about going back and I know it's only the first week, but so far so good. I mean I remembered to do my homework! If you ask me that's a good start.
The more you get to know me, the more you will understand that my life is mostly horses. I have had horses since before I could remember, I currently have two, I work at a farm, and my career goal is to become a equine vet tech..I know most people have heard the term "horse crazy" before and I'm not afraid to admit that that definitely fits me.
As the semester goes on I'm sure everyone will get to know me more, but I think that for now this was a good start.:)
